Description
This is just a quick sketch I did of the Joker. I want to try and bring my own concepts and versions of the characters to life. For this sketch I tried using bits of the original 1940s Bob Kane design of the Joker that is still quite haunting. I used the same pronounced sagging lower eyelids and half-moon eyes with small pupils that Kane used to give the Joker an unlflinching and unsettling stare. I love the carved smile because it harkens back to the Hollywoodland era of the time and the Black Dahlia murder that occured 7 years after the Joker appeared. My point was also to give the Joker a more human face, less extreme and elongated than lot of his appearances.
